InterContinental Bangkok’s Summer Palace is a long established venue for families and groups of friends to celebrate Chinese New Year in the traditional manner, and is offering a choice of three auspicious menus for groups of 10 or more persons.
Each menu encapsulates a different theme, representing wealth and prosperity, good fortune, and golden blessings. Each dish on the menu is named after the wish it symbolises.
The Emperor set is priced at Baht 13,989++ and starts with a serving of Salmon Yee Sang, the salmon salad that is tossed with chopsticks in the centre of the table, and which is a symbol of health, wealth and prosperity.
The Fortune set, priced at Baht 15,989++, starts with an Abalone Yee Sang, the abalone being rich in nutrients and low in cholesterol, making this both a healthy dish and one that denotes wealth.
The Wealthy set, at Baht 18,989++, starts with Alaska King Crab Yee Seng, the crab being highly prized and expensive because in its environment of cold water and high winds it is very difficult to catch.
An alternative of a hot and cold combination platter is offered in place of all the Yee Sang dishes for tables that prefer.
In addition to the set menus a special New Year à la carte menu is available, with auspicious dishes that include Yee Sang in its salmon, abalone and Alaskan crab versions, braised sea cucumber and dried oyster, soft-shell crab, classic Peking duck, and double-boiled bird nest with ginseng and ginkgo nuts, before ending the meal with an auspicious treat of nian gao (Chinese New Year cake). Prices start from Baht 180++.
A Chinese New Year dim sum menu is also available, with a selection of auspicious dim sum specials, priced mainly at Baht 180++ each, and available for both lunch and dinner.
The Chinese New Year menus are available 5 to 10 February 2019 for lunch 11:30 – 14:30 hours and dinner 18:00 hours – 22:30 hours.
